A Fond Farewell

A bitter sweet day in the Burbage sunshine today, singing a final fond farewell to our member and friend Bernard Patterson. Lovely to hear from his best pal at Primary School of early days in Surrey and his career as a police motorcyclist; also from his sons of Bernard's zest for life which we all recognised from his time in our bass section.
At the family's invitation we sang The Rose as the coffin processed to the graveside and then, in The White Hart, some of his favourites A Farmer's Boy (which he was aged 12 toward the end of WW II), Gloucestershire Wassail, The Drunken Sailor and an encore of The Rose.
A stalwart choir member and a fine man to know.
